Allotments for schools

All schools offer meals for children, but what many children are unaware of where that food comes from. I think it would be a great idea for schools to have a designated allotmentment garden adjacent to the school or nearby which can be used as an educational facility to give them the skills to grow their own produce and look after the plants. Although they most likely won't make enough to use, perhaps the produce created could go to a food bank.

Why the contribution is important

This will give children the skills they need to be able to grow their own fruit and veg, something which was not widely taught when I was in school but would prove very useful. It also promotes sourcing food locally and eating with the seasons which again, is going to be more important in the future with climate change.
